The matter of tone is twofold. There is the timbre, or sound color (the tone itself, the voice of the instrument), and the overall performance: such things as presence, transparency and definition, tight low end, wide dynamic and frequency response will interact to provide a bass guitar's "cutting through the mix" power.
We considered the above factors in our quest for the ultimate onboard preamplification, and John East from East-UK is the man behind our electronics. John has been making some of the best pre-amps in the world for several years; famous especially for his J-Retro and U-Retro pre-amps John worked with us at W&T's to bring the best out of our basses.
